The third article for FreeFacing will continue on combining free fonts. Poise, is the third combination of free fonts using the guides by the Hoefler & Frere-Jones article on combining fonts.
3 – A palette with poise: mix typefaces with a similar line quality if they offer different textures
Combine a didot serif with a suave humanist sans-serif and a chunky slab serif.
- Lyrical, I have used Justus, but you could use Engebrectre, Bodoni MT (Microsoft) or Dream Orphans
- Debonair, I have used Pigiarniq, but you could use Josefin Sans Std, Perspective Sans, or Delicious
- Solid, I have used ChunkFive, but you could use Bric-a-Braque, BorrisBlackBoxx, or BP Diet
