The four semifinalists for the Rugby World Cup have been decided, and I got all the hard to pick games wrong. The French decided to finally play some rugby, Wales played the best rugby I have seen them put together and Australia somehow beat South Africa despite having no ball or territory.
I am feeling very nervous for the semifinal between New Zealand and Australia with New Zealand now down to their third and fourth choice pivots, though admittedly the third choice 10, Aaron Cruden, probably played better when he came on than Slade had been playing. Still, with Weepu stepping up to the plate to direct the game and do the kicking, we should still be alright. Australia have their own worries with the form of Cooper and the fitness of Beale. As usual though the game will be decided up front. I pick the New Zealand pack to front up well against Australia, giving the backs just enough to shade Australia and win.
For the other semifinal, I am picking Wales to continue their march to their first World Cup Final, although you can never write off the French.
Here is another layout of the Rugby World Cup draw, showing where each game is being played. I am not placing any predictions in this one. Click here to see my other chart with predictions. Click on the image to see the draw larger.
Here is my first prediction for the upcoming Rugby World Cup, using the style that I used for the Football World Cup. I have of course plumped for my own team, New Zealand, to win on home soil. I have made the bold call that Samoa will beat Wales and get through the pool of death into the quarter finals. I think that Australia will beat Ireland to come top of pool C, but that could depend on the dodgy New Zealand spring weather. The other tight pool game will be Argentina and Scotland, which I predict Argentina to win. I will update this as the tournament progresses, and no doubt I will come up with a couple of other formats.

It has been a while since my last post, but I am now nicely set up in Melbourne. I am loving the city with the trams, markets and cafes.
Shortly I will create some posts on what I have been looking at while away from the blog.

I am moving to Melbourne, Australia very shortly to take up a new job. I have spent the last month packing up and getting everything ready, hence the reduced number of posts of late. This will continue for a period of time until I am all set up again.

For the upcoming Valentines Day, I thought I would get in early and show what I am putting on my Valentine’s Day card.

After a short hiatus due to a change in jobs, I will be back blogging about stylish design. Apologies for the inaction over the past couple of weeks.
