Layout | Football World Cup Tracker v3

Since I will not be able to update this over the weekend after the finish of the group stage of the World Cup, I thought I would upload my football tracker update now. Well my New Zealand has not qualified, I am still very proud of them and they finished above the current holders Italy. This World Cup is certainly looking like a South American celebration.

As promised I have updated my earlier football tracker with current results, and changed some of my predictions accordingly. I have altered the graphic to read vertically to better suit the blog format and tried to make it a little more typographically interesting.

I will next update this at the end of the group stage.

This is a good infographic for comparing the worst oil spills in history. It will be interesting to see this again, once the deep water spill is finished and see where it really comes out.

Another great looking way to present a recipe, along with additional information. This flowchart gives a great method for showing different variations of the same recipe. I also like that the colour coding shows the influences from different cuisines.

Here is my own attempt at creating a Football World Cup 2010 Infographic. I have created it like a movie timeline showing the interaction between characters over time. I will update it with the actual results later (such as my country own team, New Zealand, not getting past the first round).

Well, it looks like the BBC have an interactive version of my graph above.

Very good infographic showing medicine prescriptions in the US. Each pill represents one million prescriptions, and are laid out over a map of the US in descending order.

Graph | The World Cup predicted

This is an interesting project where the winners for each game at the Football World Cup have been predicted based on Population, GDP and experience. The algorithm has been applied to all games from 1980 to 2001 with a 72% success rate, although there is no word on how successfull it has been on results since 2001. The results look a little unlikely with Serbia getting to the final, although I would be very happy if New Zealand managed to get to the last 16.

The results are represented very nicely. I like how the group stages have been formed in a ring, and that each country is represented by their main playing colour.
