Branding | Royal Opera House
A fantastic update to the branding of the Royal Opera House in London. New engravings of the crest were created in both positive and negative so as to display better digitally and in print at both small and large scales. The difference is amazing considering the forms are virtually the same.
The typography has been updated from a staid and traditional serif into the modern, open and friendly Gotham. To me Gotham is becoming too prevalent and another humanist sans-serif would have been better. However the type is set very nicely in a tight block which sits nicely below the crest. This enables the type to be larger, bolder and easier to read on portrait banners and websites.
